Alex Phillips, based in Southend, has been enjoying the SUP life since 2018 when it was almost unheard of and certainly not as popular as it is today.
You will see Alex most weekends throughout the Year on the water enjoying the Essex coastline & in summer months he will be out on his board taking in the spectacular sunsets around Thorpe Bay or Two Tree Island.

Paddleboarding is a great way to relax with large/small groups or in pairs, it is always recommended not to take on this activity alone as the conditions more often than not can change very quickly in this Country, especially on the Coast.

In 2020 Alex became a club member of Blue Therapy, he has joined us on numerous trips/outings and in 2021 he took the plunge (no pun) to become part of the BT team as a SUP Instructor.  Alex is a fun loving, full of life character with a great personality and will always go the
extra mile to help and support not only the BT club members but anyone he speaks to whilst out on the board offering advice and tips to those he can see may be in need of some guidance.

Alex’s TIPS;
-Check the conditions before you leave and continue to check whilst out.
-Never go out alone.
-Always tell people where you will be and approx. what time you plan to return.
-Dress according to the conditions + carry spares.
-Paddle to your own ability.

-Wear a Flotation Device.

-Use a waist leash.
