Adventure Time in Snowdonia National Park

May 2022 was to see 31 members of Blue Therapy Active head off to the Snowdonia National Park for a five day adventure weekend in Wales.

With all the weeks of planning coming to fruition it was time to get excited, and with a fun packed itinerary ahead, everyone was definitely raring to go.

Day 1; Road Trip, Camping & Dipping.

Our first day was to commence with a five hour drive through some stunning scenery as a convoy of cars made their way to the campsite which was to be home from home.

An impressive one stop for refreshments and stretch of the legs before arriving. But not before capturing some of the most amazing views along the way.

Once the tents were pitched and everyone settled we opted for a late evening dip in the lake. This did not disappoint with the surrounding countryside breathtaking.

The lake was a refreshing 12 degrees and perfect for a cold water dip. The first of many activities on the menu during our stay, ensuring we incorporated every thing we do.

Day 2; Walking, Aqua-duct, Canal Trip.

An early start as we were driving to the aqua duct for a canal boat trip across the 128 foot high structure. Stunning views and a historical narrative from the crew was enlightening.

Once disembarked we walked the route while enjoying an ice cream. As if heading across this dizzy height once was not enough. We highly recommend visiting if in the locale.

Having worked up an appetite it was time for lunch by the river at one of the many establishments on offer. An idyllic and tranquil setting to refuel ourselves.

Time to head back to camp but not before a look around the town and some of its many tourist shops offering some wonderful local collectibles.

Evening was to consist of banter and laughter around the campfire as we talked about the days adventure, then the bbqs were lit and the smell of culinary cuisines in the making ;)

Day 3; Whitewater Rafting & Waterfall Swimming.

A day we had all been so looking forward to and one that definitely did not disappoint. Starting with 24 brave souls heading to the National Whitewater Centre.

I can honestly say and speak on behalf for everyone that took part in whitewater rafting, that this is one of the most fun and exhilarating things we’ve done.

The staff at the centre we’re exemplary in every way, putting a very nervous and apprehensive group of people at ease and providing us with an amazing experience.

Back to camp for a change of clothes and quick bite to eat in readiness for our hike. A 1 mile trip up Watkin Path, one of the more tougher routes up Mount Snowdon.

Needless to say that every step was worth the effort to reach our destination, the Watkin Waterfalls. A truly outstanding place of beauty and perfect for a glacier dip.

Our day finished with more food, fire and fun back at camp as we reminisced over what can only be described as the pinnacle day of time away in beautiful Wales.

Day 4; Relaxation & Recuperation

Our time in Wales was almost at an end and so day four offered those among us time to head off and explore on their own or relax at camp by the lake.

Some opting for a little kayaking and paddle boarding, others heading to the summit of Snowdon while others choosing their own special places of interest to visit.

With tomorrow being home day a final evening around the campfire to discuss where our next adventure would take us and what it may include.

As we reflected on a wonderful time away with equally wonderful people, Wales could very well necessitate another road trip and adventure activity weekend.

We offer two adventure trips each year now with one in May and the other in September. Keep an eye out for our next one, perhaps you may like to join us.
